I finally get it. They get paid to play.

This weekend, I had an incredibly important revelation.

I should have married a baseball player.

(Or Topher should re-route his current professional life and pursue major league baseball. Which he totally could do. Maybe.)

You see, professional sports stars PLAY FOR A LIVING.  As in, they play games and get paid for it!  Those things we all do on family holidays or gatherings, they do every single day and make millions for it.

Millions I tell you.

The best part?

If Topher was a baseball player, a professional one, then I would get to spend my days watching him, hot dog and beer in hand, in air conditioning (because player's wives get special seating, yo.)

Le sigh. If only I'd known.

I could have had this:

Maybe we should all just be professional sports stars.  Because it's clearly so easy.

What is your dream job for your partner? Or rather, what are your thoughts on Topher's new look, above?

  1. He could totally pull off Ripkens number. GO O's!!

My other half is a super snowboarder. Would someone like to sponsor him so he can make millions shredding down the mountains?

  2. Bwahaha, I like Topher's baseball look. ;)

I think Kevin would be one badass foorball player, if it weren't for his bum knee. DANG IT. We could all be rubbin elbows with the a-listers.

  3. My DH wants a son so he can grow up to be a professional baseball player.

  4. Loving Topher's face on that pic!
If my other half could have any other job it would be one where he needed to wear a suit - he looks so damn good in one but his current work uniform is t-shirt and jeans!

  5. But if he was a professional sports player, you'd have had to deal with either repeated concussions (football), torn leg muscles or broken ankles (soccer), or gashes to the face and dental damage (hockey)!! At least you're guiding him towards baseball! Seems harmless enough (if a little boring -- do you realize how many games you'd have to go to?!). :D

  6. Haha - that picture cracks me up! Ah, if only we had it so easy...

On another note: an ex boyfriend of mine is a pitcher...he was recruited 2 years ago to the Washington Nationals. He's still on the farm team, but I have a feeling he'll move up soon...he was really talented. But yeah, dating him in college was a pain in my tuckus. Alllll he could talk about/think about was baseball, and the games totally altered his moods. I remember one game he didn't pitch well (rare) and he was incredibly angry at himself after the game. His parents and brother were in town, and I was standing with them after the game...he just stormed past us and refused to go to dinner because he wanted to be alone, so I ended up going out with his family; sooo weird! Moody little brat. Ok...so perhaps he had issues, but the point was that he was realllly busy with it all the time and I was playing second fiddle. Boo. That relationship ended, as you can probably guess ;)

But, if Justin could be a pro athlete of sorts and it could just pay for me to stay at home/on the road with him and just blog to my hearts content/go shopping, I'd be all for that. Just as long as it is a non-contact sport. Like chess.

  7. Topher looks good as a baseball player! ;) I agree - my hubby probably would have been a pretty decent basketball player if he hadn't torn his ACL early on in college. I could deal with being a basketball wife!

  8. Not at all on topic, but do you have a topic for a vlog this week?

  9. That sounds pretty dang good, to be a pro baseball player's wife! Or a soccer player's wife, which would be more likely for my husband. Plus, who wouldn't love the eye candy when all the soccer players take off their shirts? Hot dog + drink + eye candy + millions...can't beat it!

  10. I wouldn't mind it if Jus was a rockstar. Lots of concerts and rockstars wives probably get to sit down.
But a baseball player's wife wouldn't suck either:)

  11. Although I don't get the perks (or bulging money pockets) of a pro sport's players wife- I do love that my husband is officially getting paid to play since he became a river rafting guide this year. He's the happiest I've ever seen him- and SO TAN that it makes my white chicken legs look see through
