Childhood obsessions...that linger.

When I was in high school, I was really cool. I mean, REALLY cool. I drove a stick shift Hyundai Elantra (may she rest in peace), teal blue.  Inside my Elantra, I rocked a Hula Man (until my mother "accidentally" pulled him off while I was at a soccer tourney one weekend) and the seat covers to end all seat covers:

Scooby Doo seat covers

For some reason, I considered him a bit "retro" and therefore a bit "quirky" that I him.  I was very...original.

Yes, I shamefully kept these covers on until I graduated.  By that time, I was pretty sick of my Scooby Doo sleepwear, toothbrush, slippers, pillowcase, and yes, even seat covers.  I must have finally outgrown the most annoying dog ever.

I was thinking about Scooby today and how my obsessions with childhood items still remains.  I cannot  get enough of Harry Potter.

Topher is still obsessed with Batman, and I have a feeling there are others out there who can admit to embarrassing childhood obsessions or current obsessions of meant-for-children things or people.

Do share below!

  1. As a child, I was obsessed with Hanson and once that phaze was over I was on to *NSync.
And to this day. . . I won't lie, I wouldn't kick Justin Timberlake out of bed in the morning

  2. I still read the young adult novels I used to read while I was a kid. Now that I have an e-reader, it's super easy to disguise them, and my family doesn't make (as much) fun of me anymore. haha. What can I say, they are good stories!

  3. So, I'm thinking that we may or may not be twins separated at birth. I had EVERYTHING Scooby Doo in middle school, although I did not rock the car seat covers...I had these bad ass silver fur ones. And little kid running shoes (I ran cross country as well) hanging from the rearview mirror. Oh, and my lifeguard whistle was hanging from there, too, because that was the "cool" thing to do at the pool I worked at. Awesome, I know. I mean, come on, you can only class up a '92 Grand Am so much.

And I'm dragging my finace (who will be my husband by then) to the newest Harry Potter movie. He loves it, he just pretends not to. I'm trying not to get sucked into the Twilight series until AFTER the wedding!
