one of the ways peace corps volunteers attempt to rationalize their new life in a new land is to seek out ways to normalize what they see every day. typically, i know i see out a way to explain away a variety of amenities i'm used to having and assign said amenity's role to another existing item we encounter in our new country.
in that spirit, please enjoy a minute gazing upon cambodia's version of a gas station.
item one: the gasoline and specialty snacks:
the gasoline is inside those old glass pepsi bottles. |
The orange cooler: the sign to everyone you have semi-cold beer, coca-cola, energy drinks, some fanta and maybe a something special like apple juice. |
