remember this

hey future kate,

a couple things.

school actually really started this week and you remembered how freaking FANTASTIC it is to be busy again. though eight hours of teaching on your birthday sounded a bit nuts when you woke up tuesday morning, it helped make the day one of the best.

tuesday night, you and chris left your community english class, and encountered the fullest, largest, most ridiculous moon of your lives.  it was a deep burnt orange and it was so beautiful.  chris tried to capture it for us via camera, and it couldn't be done.  but i'll bet you remember that moon, even now, future kate.

and finally, breakfast today.  your favorite pork-and-rice seller outside the school gave you that extra scoop of vegetables, and the woman who was eating there previously struck up a conversation once she learned you could speak khmer.  after a typical yet brief five minute conversation, she bought your breakfast.  all because, as she said, you teach a class for the students in the community without charging money for it.

and were reminded of the incredible, unending generosity of the the khmer people.
