today, i've decided to get a bit cheeky round these parts and bung some things for you to think about. i'd be quite chuffed if you decided to use some of these luvvly-jubbly words!
for the last fortnight, i've been reading the british harry potters available to me, and for the last four months, i've been trying to follow along the prescribed methods of teaching british english to my cambodian teachers and students.
and i've decided something incredibly important, and you might want to clear your timetable to make some room for revision after i've finished expounding on the glories of british english over plain ole boring american english.
so next time you decide you need to skive off a bit of work, nick a chocolate biscuit and enjoy your nosh!
people might think you're off your trolley, but you'll be glad you aren't gormless if you pick up the british version of your favorite book!
check out the best list of british slang ever here.
what's your favorite "other english" word?
and how long do you think i am scheduled to wait until i will receive my hogwarts letter now that i know that i should avoid bogeys?
Snogging is my hands down favorite British slang term!
ReplyDeleteI love the word "Bollocks!" haha
ReplyDeleteHa! I haven't heard gormless in ages!
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, I've been watching a series over here called Sorority Girls, who keep saying the girls should have more "spunk". In the UK, spunk refers to a male only bodily function ...
Jolly good post!!
