The other day I posted about how I don't crave shoes or purses the way some women do. Some of you totally related, others love yourselves some heels and bowler bags, while others were probably left wondering "does she have a sense of style at all?!?!"
Why, yes I do. It might not be your cup of tea, but I can sum up my style in one sentence.
Tee-shirts-and-jeans-colorful-flats-basic-black-and-brown-sometimes-chunky-necklaces-often-muted-with-flashes-of-color-funky-tights-jersey-skirts-and-leggings-emphasis-on-underthings-and-absolutely-usually-if-I-can-swing-it-at-all-pashmina-scarves-as-often-as-possible.
Hmmkay?
I enjoyed said style very recently, while having brunch with some amazing bees:
Back: Tulip and gorgeous daughter, Tiramisu, Brooch, Guinea Pig
Front: D'Orsay, Me (Pencils), Cheeseburger, Lox. Turtle came too but had to leave for work!
(Not sure how many of these women want their names out there, so, Bee names it is. I swear I remember all of them though! T, E, S, M, C, D and J, love ya!)
Aight, so. From my fashion manifesto above, you can likely gather there is one thing I'm pretty much in love with. Pashminas. Scarves, in layman's terms (or, in terms if you don't feel like forking over cash for real pashmina cashmere from Kashmir, which I've only done once- well, Topher did it.)
I now present Kate, in pashminas, through the years.
Florence, 2005. My first pashmina ever, purchased in Florence! With Am, a bestie.

It's safe to say I lurve pashminas. Do you like them?
I hope so.
Because I took the advice of all y'all and decided to do a giveaway and give away something that I SMOOCH A LOT.
It was a tough choice between underwear* and this.
Pashminas.
You really should love them too. As you can see from above, nothing completes a wardrobe like a classic black pashmina. My black pashmina has been across the world with me- literally- and it's still my favorite.
I like pashminas so much I made my bridesmaids take them as gifts, whether they wanted them or not.
Do you want one? I hope so.

ReplyDeleteI follow you (under Ms. Library)! Enter me, please! I dream about a cobalt blue pashmina, a dark pink color like a dark pink peony, or a super fabulous kelly green. Or any color really. I LOVE them!
Hunter Green! Like the dress that Catherine Zeta Jones wore to the golden globes!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love me some beautifully bright pashminas! I would love another dark green one, or maybe bright blue, or no, the tangerine - I'll go with tangerine (I don't have one in that color yet!). I don't follow blogs via the follow but I do have you in my google reader, does that count? :).
ReplyDeletePS All you DC/Baltimore/east coasty Bees look fabulous! I want to plan a trip east and meet y'all now!
Also, I tweeted. I'm not sure if you wanted me to tell you that back here or not, but here ya go :) http://twitter.com/#!/alongfarview/status/30044008818413570
ReplyDeleteIs it silly that I've always just called these scarves but pashmina sounds much better.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, obviously.
And today, I'm dreaming of something pink or red, something bright to help me get out of this winter funk.

ReplyDeleteDon't think you want to send a pashmina all the way to Japan, but I follow your blog (have been from the beginning). I love reading your blog entries. Plus, you are always so busy, so it seems to be the only way for me to sort of know what is going on in your life. Not that I am a stalker...
ReplyDeleteI'm subscribed to your blog through google readed and am now following you on google connect. Great idea for your giveaway by the way!!

ReplyDeleteI stumbled upon your writing via the wedding bee when I first got engaged. I got married aka "joined the cool people club" in September and and followed you over to your new blog!! I have an obsession with pashminas as well and would love a new "kelly" green one for two reasons... 1) my maiden name is Kelly and 2) my original "kelly" green pashmina was involved in a very bad/freak 2010 st. patty's day accident and did not recover very well... :)
ReplyDeleteI just tweeted :) Hope you have a fantastic day!
ReplyDeleteI already follow you on google - and I am a pashmina lover myself. My boss makes fun of me for them. I would LOVE a pashmina with a pattern or a silver/grey one!
ReplyDeleteYou wear them well! I never know what to wear them with. I feel like, in the summer, they remind me of a scarf, which I wear in the winter... hah. I have two though, and do love the look! Also, You have a BUENO!!! I love those fricken candy bars. I'm hoarding one in my pantry right now perhaps. I feel like I need to write a blog shrine to it before I'm allowed to eat it. Oh, and I want to enter the giveaway (though I mostly commented because of the Bueno.hahaha).
ReplyDeleteI tweeted too @nodakademic. Oh, and if I won I think I'd prefer black. I know, I'm so wild.
ReplyDeleteHmm, hopefully this comment doesn't show up twice. I need more pashminas in my life! I'd love a classic black one, or a yellow or green one. Thanks for the giveaway! (Oh, and I'm a follower!)
