So, this week's Vlog Friday topic is particularly mortifying. I have to apologize for the awkwardness of the first few seconds of the video AND the silent photos. I'm still figuring out how to mix the sound and images in iMovie. Also, if anyone has advice on how to NOT lose quality when uploading to youtube directly from iMovie, I'd LOVE you FOREVER.
What was I like in eighth grade? Press play to find out. Awkward pictures definitely included.
What'd you think?

Either way, happy Friday! What were YOU like in eighth grade? Anyone feel me on the awkward white socks or being strange just for strange's sake?
I totallyyy had the wispy bangs too, which I posted an unfortunate picture of. Never doing that again, lol.
ReplyDeleteThe white socks thing is totally new to me.. but the Mudd jeans were pretty cool ;)
Um...8th grade Kate and 8th grade Cole would have been friends.
ReplyDeleteI totally forgot about Mudd jeans, probably because my mom never bought me any and I had to wear Jordache in 6th grade.
I always wanted Mudd jeans SO BADLY, but was always too tall. Had to stick to the Gap.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love watching y'alls vlogs, and sort of wish I had the courage to do them! (Though I tend to ramble. A lot. So that would be bad.)
you're so cute! i love the tights and socks look. so adorable.
ReplyDeleteIt IS cool to say soda! :) I love your fashion forward 8th grade mind. I was in love with my JNCO khakis in middle school.
ReplyDeleteI played along too!! wwww.mintedlife.com Only, I can't watch yours now because I'm at work, but I will when I get home!
ReplyDeleteEveryone is so nice!
ReplyDelete@Kelsey: totally added you!
You are so adorable! I am totally going to do Vlog Fridays but I have a cold this weekend and that is an unfortunate combination! Next time :)
ReplyDeleteHaha - I think we must have been in 8th grade at the same time, because I think I did almost all of those things. Except the socks, we must have skipped that trend in MA :)
ReplyDeleteMudd Jeans never had my size! If I tried on a pair, they were always too tight and too short. I kind of looked like a sausage smuggler.
ReplyDeleteIf only we could go back and tell ourselves to drop all of that awful food we were stuffing into ourselves...
After my tomboy stage, L.E.I. jeans were ALL I would wear! Haha! I'm with mllelibrary -- Mudd jeans never really fit me.
ReplyDeleteLove your middle school bangs, I had them too only in high school I would curl them and spray them to death with hairspray. :)
Ohmygosh....I was totally the same way, right down to coloring my hair and having it turn out purple (although I was in 9th or 10th grade at that time)! I had to go and have mine stripped, too...but oddly enough I kept going to the salon to "keep up" my color. I just recently stopped coloring it out of laziness!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, great vlog! :)
@Lauren & Erica: you should join us! we're all awky as sin in these things :)
ReplyDelete@mlle: totally laughed so hard at "sausage smuggler"
@Jessica: LEI all the way! Didn't it stand for "life, energy, intelligence?" what was the i again?
@from scratch: You're hair is so gorgeous, I had no idea it wasn't natural!
Hahah - in middle school I loved my Mudd purse! It was so utilitarian... And I definitely wore those super high slouchy socks, I think they were called Wigwams?! Loved those photos of you in 8th grade :) I didn't get to the dyeing-my-hair-crazy-colors phase until college. Which meant I had no one to blame but myself!
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about, you were oh so fashionable. I loved this week's prompt!
ReplyDeleteMy year 8 self was... well, just .. gorgeous. (I know, that sound smug but really - looking back, I want to punch myself in the face for ever feeling insecure.) Of course, you never appreciate it at the time...
I promise I'll try & play along again soon - I always get sidetracked on Fridays!
x Aly
totally vlogging with y'all next week.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA YESSSSS!!! You and I were totally sock twins!!!! And guess what? I ALSO would wear a lovely combo of tights and socks. I remember it distinctly: I wore a pair of denim and white shorts overalls (oh gosh kill me already)...and then I'd wear WHITE tights underneath, with lace foldover socks on top...with my white Keds. Ohhh baby that was sexy.
ReplyDeleteOMG yes to all of that stuff...wispy bangs, LEI and Mudd jeans, Doc Martens...I was right there with you!
